2,500 Spectators at a Football Game get Headphones

By |2020-07-30T18:05:05-04:00July 30th, 2020|2019, Press|

When it’s your schools home coming game and parade and you want to host it at night, but your neighbors don’t love the loud speakers calling out the play by play and then music for the half time show, who do you call?  Well Menlo School in Altherton, California turned to Quiet Events to supply 2,500 to all their attendees.

With headphones on, the crowd sang the national anthem and the game started!  Everyone with headphones could hear the announcer make each call clearly all while the Quiet Event DJ played jams from the 80’s and 90’s keeping the parents dancing and cheering for their team.

This was the first of it’s kind and a big win for Menlo in both the game and pulling off their first night home coming.

Cruise Ships Party With Headphones

By |2020-07-30T17:03:56-04:00July 30th, 2020|2019, Press|

Celebrity, Norwegian, Carnival, and Princess Cruise lines are just some of the ships that have been throwing silent discos for their passengers for over seven years.

So why would a cruise line want to throw a silent party where everyone wears headphones?

Cruise lines use silent discos as their nightlife entertainment on the ships because it lessens the noise for those trying to sleep in cabins close by. Additionally, it allows the entertainment director to create a party that spans across different nationalities, ages, and music tastes.  With 3 different channels of music for people to choose from, different genres can be concerted to make an all inclusive experience.

The dynamics of having three different genres also allows you to create different themed nights. Create a Latin party with one channel playing salsa/bachata, a decades night with everyone’s favorite disco cuts, or a raging EDM party for the electric lovers.

We’ve had success with these type of events. Our city cruise silent disco parties are one of our more popular events. It’s on a smaller scale compared to the massive cruise ships, but the level of excitement is the same.  Party-goers love the revelry on the high seas river!

Seeing is believing, so come check out one of our upcoming cruise parties in New York City! Next up is our Booze Cruise on September 21st followed by our frightfully fun, Halloween Boo’ze Cruise, on October 25th!

Autism and Silent Discos: An Inclusive Party for All

By |2020-07-30T16:56:18-04:00July 30th, 2020|2019, Press|

Any parent knows that it’s challenging to find things to do with their kids every week.  It’s even more challenging for parents of autistic children because they have to consider the amount of external stimuli that occur, be it sound, lights, and/or interactions with others.

Silent discos have become a great way for many kids and adults on the spectrum to experience a  fun dance party without the anxiety of the loud music. Each headphone has it’s own volume control so the audio can be as loud or soft(low) as desired.  When you take the headphones off, there aren’t any speakers playing music so it’s as if you were just in a room with a lot of people talking.

What’s even more special is that everyone, regardless if they are on the spectrum, has headphones on.  This gives everyone the feeling of belonging to the same party. Quiet Events takes it a step further by having our DJ’s appear as if they are battling one another.  Each DJ has a channel color, so they try to create micro communities: “team red”, “team blue”, and “team green”.  Very often there’s only one person listening to red and dancing like no one else.  This is okay and is exactly what to expect in a silent disco.

Quiet Events would love to opportunity to put on a party for your school or organization.  We think it’s important that everyone, has the opportunity to experience music in a way that encourages singing, dancing, laughing, and togetherness!

As one of our recent clients attested, “The Quiet Event Concept was a great way to allow students with autism and other sensory input differences the opportunity to socialize and interact with their peers.  The headphones leveled the playing field.  Students from different classifications (autism, physical disabilities, emotional disturbances, etc.)  interacted with each other in ways that we have not seen before.  Students were able to choose their playlist and volume.  Staff had a great time as well. We will definitely do this event again.”

Kids with ADD & ADHD love Silent Discos

At the age of 17 William Petz, the CEO of Quiet Events was diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia.  Having friends and family being diagnosed with the disorder as well, he is all too familiar with the challenges, assumptions and prejudgments that come along with it.

In 2017 Quiet Events started hosting kid silent discos so that parents that were having so much fun at night could take their kids to experience it during the day time.   Parents quickly noticed that their kids that normally would run around, scream, and be destructive were more focused at a Quiet Event silent disco.

Wearing a pair of headphones changes the dynamics in so three major ways which helps cope with children with ADD or ADHD.

  1. Quiet Events headphones block out any external noise distractions that may cause a child to change their focus.
  2. Having 3 stations to switch between anytime you want, gives the control to change if the child gets board.
  3. The Quiet Event DJs put on a show, talking to the crowd, making them scream, sing, dance, and building an interactive experience that keep their attention.

Quiet Events is always looking for ways to bring people together, have fun and enjoy music in ways that were not possible before.  If you have a story about how Quiet Events affected you or your children, we’d love to hear it.

Grown-ish Silent Disco

By |2020-07-30T16:48:36-04:00July 30th, 2020|2019, Press|

As Silent Discos continue to grow in popularity across the world, there you’ll also start seeing them being featured in movies and TV shows.  What makes this so great for TV is that you can hear the leads perfectly.

What you may not know is that during a regular TV show when you see people dancing, they really are dancing to no music.  This way the microphone can pick up the people talking.

Grown-ish Season 2, Episode 19 features a silent disco at a college door party for this reason.

Silent Disco Dancing on Date Night

By |2020-07-30T16:28:33-04:00July 30th, 2020|2019, Press|

Where would you like to go on a first date? Somewhere casual, fancy, has drinks, has food? Somewhere romantic, somewhere expensive, or some cheap hole in the wall joint? Trying to plan a first date, or even a date night with your partner for years, can be nerve-racking. We happen to think that silent discos can make for a perfect first date. We might be a bit bias though, so don’t just take it from us. EmLovz has featured Quiet Events as one of the 50 Best Date ideas to do in NYC!

Why is a silent disco party the perfect date idea?

Social: Unlike taking a date to a loud bar or club where the music is blaring and you can barely hear what the other person is saying, at a silent disco party all you need to do is take your headphones off to have a normal conversation.

Conversation starter: For those awkward moments when there doesn’t seem to be anything to talk about, just put on the headphones and comment on the music or the other people singing out loud.

Choose what you like: Maybe you don’t like hip-hop, maybe your date wants to listen to 80’s & 90’s music. At a Quiet Events party you’ll both be happy since you’ll have a selection of music to listen to. There’s no compromising since you’ll have it all.

Pure fun: Quiet Event parties are hosted at fun bars and unique locations that are perfect for date nights regardless of your age. There’s drinking, dancing, singing, and laughing, with a safe and upbeat vibe to the entire party. That’s sure to put a smile on your date’s face and they’ll probably want to do it all again.

Price: You’ll never break the bank on this date night! Tickets are just $10 ($5 for early bird!) and go up to $30 for rooftop events. Our cruises are just a few shillings more.

Follow us on Instagram for event updates and discount codes towards admission.

Be sure to take a look at the calendar of events for your next date night. We guarantee that if you have your first date at a Quiet Events silent disco it’ll be a date that you’ll never forget. We can’t guarantee that things will go without a hitch during your courtship, but even then, there are lots of singles at our events!

Silent Discos are Perfect for School Dances and Proms

By |2020-07-30T16:02:25-04:00July 30th, 2020|2019, Press|

Remember those awkward school dances where guys were on one side and girls were on the other?  Or were you the “uncool” kid that stood on the sideline holding up the wall while others were dancing together on the dance floor?

April is here which undoubtedly means that prom season is right around the corner. While prom is still highly regarded amongst teens, schools are looking for ways to spruce up the centuries-old tradition. After all, to keep adolescents interested, one needs to keep up with the ever-changing times. With that, a silent disco is a great option for your prom or for the next school gathering. Let’s dive into a few of the reasons why this is the case.

Music selection is a huge component as to why so many people love silent discos. We all have different music tastes and silent discos allow guests to indulge in their favorites, simultaneously. Children included, have different music tastes but sometimes feel like they need to conform and listen to what their friends are listening to. Since a silent disco has 3 different channels to choose from, they can listen to what they want to and still be with their friends who may be listening to something else.

Silent discos have been known to reduce the normal awkwardness of school dances. With headphones on, listeners become fully immersed in the music and let loose a bit; they feel okay to dance, sing, and enjoy themselves. Those that would normally hold up a wall are more inclined to join in on the dance floor.

While many enjoy the party atmosphere created by blaring speakers, others prefer a scene where they can easily hold a conversation with their friends without the excess noise. Yet another reason why teachers and parents love to throw silent discos at their schools.

What makes a Quiet Events silent disco the best? We make the experience more than just a party; it’s like an interactive show. There’s more going on than just wearing headphones and listening to music. We pride ourselves on crowd engagement from our stellar DJ’s. It makes kids focus more on the show and worry less about bullying or shaming, as you might see at a normal dance.

New generation Headphones

Silent discos are great for school dances and proms because they create a safe and communal environment that everyone can enjoy. These events bring out all of the student body, from the socialites to the introverts and the athletes to the mathletes. Hopefully we can help create that experience for you [and your students].

Take a look at our rentals page for more information on how to make it all possible. Don’t forget to inquire about our 10% discount for schools and non-profits.

Keeping Canada Quiet from Quebec to BC

By |2020-07-30T16:06:22-04:00July 30th, 2020|2019, Press|

In February 2019, Quiet Events partnered with Reveal Events Group Ltd. in Vancouver, BC to open the 7th  Quiet Events’ office; the second in Canada.

When you think of headphones, you don’t typically think of conferences and raging nightlife parties, but that’s what Quiet Events has been doing for over 7 years.

These events are commonly called Silent Discos or Silent Parties. Now Western Canada can experience these headphone parties and silent conferences at a much lower cost than before.

Quiet Events will be showcasing on March 27th, 2019 at Canadian Special Events Live  in Toronto Canada.  It’s a perfect place for event planners to experience a dance party happening right in the middle of the trade show floor!

Over the next several months expect to see more Silent Disco parties, Silent Yoga, Silent Tours, and other Silent Events in Western Canada utilizing both the 3 channel and 10 channel systems powered by Quiet Events.
